ביום השבת [ביום השבת] (כד, ח) יש לדקדק על הכפל, ואולי יש לומר על פי דברי העיון יעקב (מנחות צו, א) דלחם הפנים מרומז לתורה, ולכולי עלמא בשבת נתנה תורה (שבת פו, ב), שיש בה שני חלקים תורה שבכתב ותורה שבעל פה, לכך נכפל ביום השבת שני פעמים.
“He shall arrange them before Hashem regularly every sabbath day…”
It is necessary to be precise regarding this doubling [of the phrase]. Perhaps it can be said, based on the words of the Iyun Yaakov (on Menachot 96a), that the Showbread is a hint to the Torah. And since everyone agrees that the Torah was given on the Sabbath (Shabbat 86b), and since it [the Torah] contains two parts—the Written Torah and the Oral Torah—therefore, “on the Sabbath day” is doubled twice.
